CONVERSION OF Electrical Core Drying Oven
to LPG System

Reason for
Conversion :
The electrical load for heating
was 36 KW, Production loss due to longer preheating time, and cost of
power consumed, were reasons for the company to look for alternative
fuels ( LPG )
B.
What we did :
Since direct firing
of LPG does not in any way effect the products, a separate combustion
chamber refactory was mounted at the top of the oven. An automatic LPG
monoblock burner was kept at the mouth of the chamber. Special ducts
were fabricated to guide the hot air from the combustion chamber to the
air chamber for the proper distribution of hot air. The auto control
system was interlocked with the circulation motor so that burner cannot
be switched on unless the fans come into operation. A selector switch
was provided to switch over from LPG to electric heating and vice versa,
at will.

Results :
(i)
Customer is pleased with the reduction in
energy costs, uniformity of temperature and increase in production.
(ii)
Since the electrical heating is
not disturbed, the system can be operated either on electricity or LPG
firing.
